Design A Paper Plate Shofar

The shofar is blown on Yom Kippur as a reminder to reflect on the past year, make positive changes and begin the new year with a fresh start. Keshet Transition students are celebrating the High Holidays by making their own paper plate shofars! Check out the visual and written instructions below to make one at home.

What You’ll Need

Paper Plate

white paper plate
Tape

roll of tape
Glue

bottle of elmer's glue
Tissue Paper

Markers

Stickers

Yarn

4 balls of colorful yarn


Directions


1. Decorate the plate with markers.


2. Decorate the plate with stickers.

3. Once your plate is decorated how you want it to, roll a paper plate into a cone shape to form the horn.

4. Secure the shape using strong tape.

5. Glue tissue paper around the cone to give it texture.

6. Add a handle by slipping a piece of yarn through the inside and tying the ends.

7. Enjoy blowing your shofar!
