I have spent years helping organize blood drives, but last year I experienced their importance in a completely different way. When my daughter Cecilia was born, I ended up needing two blood transfusions. It was one of those life moments that changes your perspective instantly. The truth is, without those blood products being there when I needed them, my story could have gone very differently. Because someone I will never know took the time to donate, I got to be here, heal and be Cecilia’s mom. I have never forgotten that.
That is a huge part of why I am so excited that Keshet is hosting a blood drive with Vitalant as part of their Donate for Mothers campaign. Honestly, it feels like such a natural extension of who we are. Our work is all about showing up for people, building a community where everyone matters and making sure support is there when it is needed. A blood drive does exactly that, and as we approach Mother’s Day, it feels especially meaningful.
Right now, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. Every donation has the power to help save lives, and our goal is to have 60 people donate, which could help impact up to 180 lives. How amazing is that?
The blood drive will take place on May 15 in Northbrook from 9:00am to 3:00pm. You can sign up for a 30-minute time slot works for you.
Also, if you are nervous or unsure, let me reassure you. This past December, the Development team went together to donate blood and we can officially report back: it was easy, fast and surprisingly fun. Great company, snacks afterward and the feeling that you did something genuinely important.

In true Keshet fashion, nothing we do is without the support of our community. To make the day even more special, team members from GADOL, Keshet’s adult day program, will be helping hand out snacks and Keshet’s Transition program will be hosting a lemonade stand.
I would love for you to join us and help make this a meaningful Keshet moment. If you are not able to donate, feel free to share this opportunity with friends and family who may be able to give. I hope you will join me as we come together this Mother’s Day to make an impact as one community.
