When I first joined Keshet, my main motivation was the opportunity to travel and experience the United States. I never imagined that one summer would change the way I see myself and the people around me. What I found at Keshet was something much greater than I was looking for. Through the campers, I found a sense of purpose.
Building genuine connections with the campers completely changed my perspective. Their joy, kindness and unconditional love have taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Every day at camp, the campers and counselors grow together. While we do our best to support, encourage and care for them, they are constantly teaching us patience, gratitude, compassion and how to celebrate even the smallest victories. The relationships we build with them are unlike anything I have experienced anywhere else.
Coming back for my third year was never a difficult decision because this has become the most meaningful job I have ever had. My campers have given my life a deeper sense of purpose. They have changed me just as much as I hope I have made a difference in their lives.
Keshet has given me far more than memories. It has given me friendships, unforgettable moments and a deeper understanding of what it means to truly care for someone. Every summer reminds me that the greatest impact doesn’t always come from the things we teach, but from the love, trust and growth we share with one another. I came to Keshet hoping to experience a new place, but I keep coming back because it has become a place that feels like home.
