Keshet had an amazing time celebrating Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot across all of our programs! With the support of Bat-El Lieberman, Director of Jewish Life, participants of all ages explored the meaning of the season, created festive treats and came together as a community.
GADOL
Team members blew the shofar daily and connected with friends in Kiryat Gat, Israel via a special Zoom session to wish each other a happy new year and play holiday-themed games. They also took part in a tashlich ceremony, where they symbolically cast away missteps from the past year by throwing bread crumbs into a moving body of water. To celebrate Sukkot, they built small sukkahs at the farm with Soil and Soul using natural materials.

Day School
Students created apple tree art, played a Rosh Hashanah memory game on the smart board and went on a fun apple-picking field trip to Apple Holler, connecting with the symbols and sweetness of the new year.

High School
High school students baked round challahs and joined a Rosh Hashanah memory game, building both hands-on skills and festive holiday knowledge.

Transition
Students decorated “Happy New Year” cards, dipped apples in honey and packed honey and candles to be delivered to community members, spreading holiday joy beyond Keshet.

Sunday School
Our younger Sunday School students practiced blowing the shofar and learned the different shofar chants using accessible materials from Matan.

Chai School
Teen Sunday School participants delivered Rosh Hashanah meals with Maot Chitim to community members and helped clean up trails at the River Trails Nature Center, connecting service with the spirit of the season.

Beit Midrash
Adults explored Yom Kippur by making flip books that reflected what they are thankful for, what part of the holiday they want to focus on and their goals for the coming year.

Weekly Recreation
Participants created toffee apples and apple-themed art projects, bringing creativity and fun to the High Holidays.

MY Life
Residents joined an inclusive Rosh Hashanah community service at Congregation Beth Shalom, complete with visuals and interactive elements for all abilities. They also had a cooking session with Micah Siva featuring a Rosh Hashanah menu, baked round challahs and will enjoy time hanging out in the sukkahs at their houses.

Shana Tova u’Metuka and G’mar Chatima Tova! We’re wishing everyone a sweet new year, a meaningful fast and plenty of joy, celebration and community throughout the season!
