Keshet’s Mission Rings True For Staff, Too

“I have been in this field for over 10 years and I have yet to come across an organization like Keshet. The culture is so family-oriented, welcoming and really lives up to its mission statement to create a community of belonging for people of all abilities. Working in this field we are all advocates, but Keshet is truly number 1 at this. I’ve been here a short time yet I already feel the love and commitment to making sure everyone does belong. It might be a smaller agency, but the community and staff who support it make it feel like it has the power of a much larger one.

When you work in a job like residential, it’s unlike anything else because you are literally working in someone else’s home. And while the residents are always excited to meet the new staff, it certainly takes time for them to trust you and be comfortable around you. I began building strong relationships with each of the residents and eventually gained the green light to be welcomed into each of their individual apartments. It may not seem like much, but this felt like a huge milestone to me. I’m now that much more confident in the connections that I’ve built and certain that Keshet is where I belong. In a short period of time, this community already feels like home, and I’m so glad that I now get to be a part of it.”

-Ryan Johnson, MY Life House Manager

When new staff like RJ are able to see who we are and what we do so early on makes us confident that we are fulfilling our mission. Our goal to create a community of belonging is equally for our participants as it is for our staff, volunteers, community partners and Board of Directors.

Over the past three months, we have hired an exceptional number of exceptional staff to join the Keshet Team. Our success in hiring so many great people during such a challenging job market is largely due to the work of Keshet’s new recruiter, Cheri Hogan. In the last 90 days, our programs and participants have benefited from the following people being hired:

25+ New Education Staff including Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Special Services Staff, Office Managers, Program Managers and Directors

15 New Staff for Adult Services including 10 DSPs, 2 Admin, 2 House Managers and 1 Program Director

1 New Staff for the Business Office…and more to come!

At Keshet, we know that we are only as good as our staff. Whether you have been around for many years or are just beginning your time with the organization, Keshet aspires to make each staff member feel welcome and valued. Even with so much growth and advancement for Keshet this year and beyond, that will never change. We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the new year.
