Keshet brings together adults from all over our community for recreation and social gatherings. These programs are open to all adults who are 18+, with and without disabilities. Whether this is your first time at Keshet or your one hundredth, we hope you’ll join in on the fun.

Multi-week classes & activities

Sundays | Buddy Bowling

Get ready to roll with an engaging and inclusive bowling experience with the support of a buddy volunteer! Perfect for players of all skill levels, this program allows you to sharpen your skills and connect with others in a friendly, supportive environment.

On Feb 8, we’ll take part in a special Super Bowl Buddy Bowling tournament from 1:00-2:30!

Mondays | Special Olympics Basketball Skills

Work on dribbling, passing and shooting in a supportive, inclusive environment. Open to athletes of all experience levels, this program helps build confidence, improve skills and practice Special Olympics techniques. Buddies are there to cheer you on every step of the way!

Mondays | Fit & Fun + Special Olympics Powerlifting

Get moving and feel great! In this active program, participants will explore the gym, learn how to safely use different workout machines and spend time walking the indoor track. Whether you’re new to fitness or just love staying active, this is a great way to build healthy habits in a supportive setting.

New this year: Participants also have the optional opportunity to train for the Special Olympics powerlifting qualifiers. Those who are interested can work with staff to learn proper technique and build strength at their own pace. Participants who choose to compete will need to purchase a singlet for an additional $100.

The Special Olympics powerlifting meet takes place March 29–30 at Marmion Academy in Aurora, and anyone who medals will be invited to compete at the Special Olympics Summer Games from June 20–22 at Illinois State University.

Tuesdays | Out & About

This program provides a unique opportunity for individuals to explore the community with autonomy and choice. Participants will enjoy self-guided outings tailored to their interests in a supportive, facilitated environment. Ideal for those not currently enrolled in a day program and are seeking new experiences and social opportunities.

Tuesdays | Out & About: Bring Your Own Companion

This version of Out & About offers the same exciting opportunities to explore the community, but with personalized support. Participants must bring their own 1:1 companion or caregiver, ensuring they have the assistance they need to fully enjoy the program’s outings and activities.

Wednesdays | Keshet Choir

Join Keshet’s Inclusive Choir to enhance your musical skills and be onstage. Experience the joy of singing in a supportive and inclusive environment while developing your talents and sharing your love of music with others.

Singers and volunteers will perform at the Keshet Rainbow Banquet on Sunday, March 8.

Wednesdays | Just Dance

Move, stretch and energize in this lively class that combines dance, cardio, fitness and yoga. Enjoy music-driven movement and exercises that let you move your body in ways that feel natural and fun.

Wednesdays | Special Olympics Swimming

Take your skills to the next level with Team Keshet’s Special Olympics Swim Team! This program is for athletes who already know how to swim and are ready to train for the Special Olympics swim qualifiers. Dive in, practice your strokes and get competition-ready with dedicated coaching and team support.

Meet in the Middle

In collaboration with Milwaukee JCC

 

In this exciting new program, Keshet adults (18+) will meet up with Milwaukee JCC’s Chaverim program to bring friends from both communities together. We’ll meet monthly at different spots across Illinois and Wisconsin to hang out, try fun activities and build new friendships.

Let's hit the slopes!

Adult Ski Trip

We’re partnering with Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports (STARS) to offer an adaptive ski trip for adults with disabilities. Whether you’re an experienced skier or a beginner, STARS can support all ability levels! All you need is a willingness to learn and desire to spend multiple days out on the mountains. Price includes: Flight, lodging, staffing, ski equipment and all meals (Kosher).

This trip is designed for participants who are ready for the long days and high energy pace of a ski trip. If you are not sure this trip is right for you, please reach out to Polly.

All of Keshet’s Adult Social & Recreation Programs are open to people of all abilities and adults throughout our community. We encourage people who have never attended a Keshet program before to join in on the fun. Most activities have a 3:1 or 4:1 participant to staff ratio.

Fee assistance

Need-based fee assistance is available for Keshet’s adult recreation programs. Families will indicate their interest in receiving assistance when they register online. Our team will then be in touch with you about next steps. Contact Katherine at 847.205.1234 for more information.
